Woodshed

Jazz musicians call the hard work of practice being in the woodshed.

Aptly named, the Woodshed is one of Salt Lake City's well-kept secrets.

You don't pimp out and strut there. It's not a meet market. At first glance, it's one of those sorry hole-in-the-wall joints, but it's filled with a welcoming warmth reminiscent of that neighbor bar you always wished was on your block. The Woodshed is an oasis of sweet sounds and friends you haven't met yet. A woman can walk in alone any night, have a drink, enjoy the exceptional live music, and feel welcome and safe. More places should be like that.

When it's time to pay dues, jazz musicians take it to the woodshed. When it's time to relax and just be you, take it to the woodshed yourself.
